At its core, makeup is about self-expression. It offers a canvas upon which individuals can showcase their unique style, mood, or even cultural identity. The use of makeup dates back thousands of years, with evidence of its application found in ancient civilizations. What started as simple adornment has evolved into a multi-billion dollar industry, reflecting the changing trends and societal norms surrounding beauty.

Follow the steps given below on how to do makeup in easy manner:

Step 1: CTM

This is  the first and the most important step while doing makeup. CTM in the context of makeup typically refers to a skincare routine known as “Cleansing, Toning, and Moisturizing.

1. Cleansing: Cleansing is the first step in the CTM routine. Use a gentle cleanser to remove makeup, dirt, and excess oils from your face. Choose a cleanser that suits your skin type, whether it’s dry, oily, combination, or sensitive.

2. Toning: After cleansing, apply a toner to balance your skin’s pH levels. Toners can help remove any remaining traces of impurities and provide a refreshing sensation. Toners can help prepare your skin to better absorb the products applied afterward.

3. Moisturizing: Moisturizing is a crucial step in the CTM routine. Apply a suitable moisturizer to hydrate and nourish your skin. Moisturizing creates a smooth surface for makeup application and helps prevent makeup from settling into fine lines.

Step 2: Primer

Apply a makeup primer to create a smooth surface and help your makeup last longer. Primers also minimize the appearance of pores and fine lines. Primers come in various formulations to address different skin concerns and can be a valuable addition to your makeup routine. By providing a smooth canvas, primers improve the adherence of foundation and other makeup products, resulting in a flawless and long-lasting finish.

Step 3: Color corrector

Color correction in makeup is a technique used to neutralize and balance out specific skin concerns using colored products. Most people use color correctors to hide dark circles in the eye area and neutralize redness. It also helps to conceal skin imperfections and wrinkles. Color correctors come in green, orange, peach, yellow, and lavender shades.

Step 4: Foundation

Choose a foundation that matches your skin tone and type. Apply it evenly across your face, blending it well into your jawline and neck. You can use a makeup sponge, brush, or your fingers for application. It is available in various formulations, such as liquid, cream, powder, or stick, foundation is designed to even out skin tone, conceal imperfections, and provide a smooth canvas for other makeup products. Selecting the right foundation involves considering factors such as skin tone, undertones and personal preferences.

Step 5: Concealer

Use concealer to cover blemishes, dark circles, or any areas that need extra coverage. Apply it in a triangular shape under your eyes for a brightening effect. These are typically available in liquid, cream, or stick formulations. They are often applied after foundation but before other makeup products. The key is to blend the concealer seamlessly into the skin using tools like makeup sponges or brushes. Concealers can also be used to highlight and contour, accentuating facial features.

Step 6: Setting Powder

Setting powder is a crucial step in the makeup routine, playing a vital role in enhancing the longevity and finish of the overall look. Set your foundation and concealer with a translucent setting powder. This helps control shine and keeps your makeup in place. Setting powder is typically translucent, meaning it does not add additional color to the skin, although tinted options are available for those seeking a little extra coverage.

Step 7: Contouring and Highlighting:

Contouring and highlighting are transformative makeup techniques designed to enhance facial features and create dimension. Contouring involves using darker shades, often in the form of creams, powders, or sticks, to emphasize and define specific areas of the face, such as the hollows of the cheeks, jawline, and sides of the nose.

Step 8: Blush

Apply blush to the apples of your cheeks for a healthy flush. Choose a shade that complements your skin tone and the overall look you’re going for. It is available in various formulations, including powder, cream, and liquid, blush enhances the natural radiance of the skin. Applied to the apples of the cheeks, blush can range in shades from soft pinks to bold reds, allowing for customization based on desired intensity and skin tone. The application of blush contributes to a lively and lifted complexion, completing the makeup look by adding warmth and a touch of natural radiance to the face.

Step 9: Eyebrows:

Fill in your eyebrows using a pencil, powder, or gel to define their shape. Brush through them to ensure a natural finish. The shape and fullness of eyebrows can significantly impact one’s appearance. This often involves techniques like filling in sparse areas with pencils, powders, or gels, and shaping the brows to achieve a desired look.

Step 10: Eyeshadow and Eyeliner

Apply eyeshadow to your eyelids, using a combination of shades to achieve your desired look. Start with a base color, add a darker shade to the crease, and use a lighter shade on the brow bone. Line your eyes with eyeliner to define them. You can choose between a pencil, gel, or liquid liner, and decide if you want a subtle line or a more dramatic wing.

Step 11: Lips

Outline your lips with a lip liner for definition. Fill in with lipstick, gloss, or a combination of both. Blot gently if needed.

Step 12: Setting Spray

Finish your makeup with a setting spray to help set everything in place and keep your makeup looking fresh throughout the day. The spray forms a lightweight, invisible film that helps set makeup in place, preventing smudging, creasing, and fading throughout the day or night. Setting sprays often provide a dewy or matte finish, catering to different skin types and preferences.
